Press Release
Monday 22nd April 2013
Bath’s famous Male Choir are setting their sights on a major concert tour to Japan in 2014.
The choir reached a world-wide audience when it appeared on BBC’s Last Choir Standing series. Judge Russell Watson called them ‘the wall of sound’ .
Since that time Bath Male Choir have been in demand for concerts across the UK raising thousands of pounds for charities such as Help for Heroes, Prostate Cancer as well as locally for Parkinson’s Society and Dorothy House.
Founder conductor, Grenville Jones, explains;
“Through a friend we received an invitation to visit Tokyo in 2014. There’s a huge interest in English choral music not only from ex-pats living in Tokyo but from the Japanese people themselves.
“Planning has already started and we are anticipating that a choir tour to Tokyo will take place at the end of October early November in 2014.”
Grenville has issued an invitation to potential new members who may be interested in joining the choir and taking part in the tour.
“To take part in such a prestigious tour means that we have to have a strong group to represent Bath Male Choir. If anyone would like to know more information I would ask them please in the first instance to email me on jonesgrenville@aol.com.
“Nearer home Bath Male Choir sang to a packed Writhlington Theatre last Saturday and their next local date is in Bath Abbey on Saturday June 8th, a concert supporting six small local charities selected by Bath Abbey themselves.”
