They have travelled the World as Bath’s singing ambassadors and on Friday May 12 will perform in Bath Abbey as part of this year’s Bath Festival, ‘Party in the City.’
Bath music-man Grenville Jones started The City of Bath Male Choir in 2008 and the choir has grown in numbers over the years. They received national fame through the BBC 1 Saturday night series LAST CHOIR STANDING. Dubbed ‘The Wall of Sound’ by celebrity judge Russell Watson they sang their way to the final rounds with the support of millions of Saturday night TV viewers.
The Show has since been screened World-Wide by the BBC, winning many new supporters and visitors to their Tuesday evening rehearsals at Beechen Cliff Methodist Church.
Concerts and tours have taken them across the UK and Europe with hugely successful visits to Japan, Boston and, last October 2022, Nashville. The choir are known for their highly entertaining concerts and standing ovations!
Bath Male Choir has raised many thousands of pounds for local and national charities over the years. Patron is The Mayor of Bath and the members come from across the area. They recently packed the Guildhall Banqueting Room for their birthday concert.
New singers are always welcome to attend a rehearsal on any Tuesday. As Grenville Jones says;
“Singing in a choir is the best hobby in the World, just come along and meet the choir, it could be the best two hours you’ve ever had!

Concert and rehearsal conducting duties are now shared between founder Grenville and his youngest son Laurie Jones, who is head of music at a Gloucestershire school and conductor of other local choirs.
The City of Bath Male Choir perform at Bath Abbey at 8.30pm on Friday May 12, admission is free with both Grenville and Laurie sharing conducting duties on the night.
